FYLDE COAST GOLFERS

Blackpool Park Golf Club
Established at its present site since 1925 when the golf course was opened as part of the new Stanley Park attraction. The course was designed by the famous golf course architect Dr Alister MacKenzie who also designed such well known venues as Royal Melbourne, Cypress Point and Augusta National, home to the US Masters.
Renowned for its amazing location, great facilities and vibrant social side, both on and off the course, Blackpool Park is most definitely more than just a golf course.

Stonyhurst Park Golf Club

Stonyhurst Park Golf Club was formed in 1979, but the history of the golf course and its strong affiliation to Stonyhurst College date back to the 19th century when Walker Cup founder George Walker was a Philosophy student at the college.

The course is a 9 hole gem, glistening in the heart of the Ribble Valley and Bowland Forest. Picturesque views and tranquil surroundings make the perfect setting for a golf course. Well-tended fairways and greens combine with testing approach shots and natural hazards to make it a challenging test of golf for members and visitors alike.

Lytham Green Drive Golf Club

Lytham Green Drive is a pleasant tree lined course, which although within a mile of the Irish Sea still retains its parkland characteristics. Don't be fooled by its apparent lack of length, at 6,305 yards it is indeed short by modern standards, but very small, well bunkered greens provide a more than adequate test.

The outward half is where one's score must be made and although the back nine contains three Par 3's, all of which are particularly testing, its long par 4's will generally account for any shots saved on the front nine. The opening hole provides a stern test with out of bounds and trees flanking the right behind two well placed bunkers, forcing the player to direct his tee shot left, where he will be greeted by more trees.

The signature 14th hole, Devil's Elbow, has taken its toll on many. At 444 yards, this right angled dog-leg has a stream to the right which must be negotiated at least twice. There is also an Out-of-bounds that is very much in play on the corner of the dog-leg. Once within range of the postage stamp sized elevated green, deep bunkers must be avoided.

Used as a final qualifying course for the 1974, 1979 and 1988 British Open Championships held at nearby Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club

Knott End Golf Club
The Infamous 11th hole Par 3

Knott End Golf Club is situated 19 Miles from Royal Lytham, and 12 miles from the centre of Blackpool. By the side of the River Wyre estuary the course has fantastic views of the Bowland Hills and Morecambe Bay.

Knott End Golf Club welcomes visitors from all over the U.K. to enjoy the delights of this stunning 18 hole Golf Course.

A course of two halves. The first nine hole’s go along the side of the estuary with fabulous views of the river. When the tide’s in and the boats are sailing, teeing off on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th is breath taking, it’s hard to believe you are only a few miles from Blackpool.

The back nine goes down into the valley with tree lined fairway’s and our 11th signature hole (which has ruined many a card).

The best thing about the course is it’s playability for both low and high handicap player’s.

We are proud of our reputation of being one of the most hospitable golf clubs on the Fylde Coast. You will always find a warm and friendly welcome at the clubhouse which offers the choice of tasty bar meals or ‘a La Carte’ menu for those special occasions.

ST ANNES OLD LINKS

Here at St Annes Old Links, we are justly proud of our 6941 yard Par 72 Championship links course and welcome the opportunity to share it with golfers from around the world.

Founded in 1901, St Annes Old Links is one of the fine championship links of England’s north west coast and hosted the Local Final Qualifying for The Open in July 2012 held at nearby Royal Lytham & St Annes, the Ladies' Golf Union Girl’s Home International Matches in August 2013, the English Women's Open Amateur Strokeplay Championship in August 2015, the Boys' Home Internationals in early August 2017 and the UK Seniors Golf Association North West Championship at the end of August 2017.

We are proud to  become the first venue to host final qualifying for both the Open Championship and Ricoh Women’s British Open in the same year

Fairhaven Golf Club

Fairhaven is not only a beautiful place to play golf but fully lives up to its designation as a “Championship” course originally designed by James Braid.  Recognised by the hierarchy of golf as one of the best courses in Northern England, Fairhaven has much to offer visiting golfers, whatever their handicap.

Arriving at Fairhaven, having driven past numerous built-up areas, the first-time visitor should head for the lounge to enjoy the breath taking view of superb open golfing country, surrounded by woods, with not a house or any other building in sight.

Fairhaven is an unusual blend of links and parkland which is relatively flat. This makes it not too strenuous to walk around and allows complete vision of each hole from tee to green. It is consistently maintained and presented to the highest standard, offering  a fair challenge to golfers of all abilities and featuring the “risk & reward” elements of negotiating the 122 deep revetted bunkers for which Fairhaven is famous.  It has all the characteristics of a traditional links course, including a sand sub-soil, allowing year-round golf.

Having won host of Ecology awards there is an abundance of wildlife, including various breeds of pheasant, which can be seen strutting around the course and depicted in the Club emblem. Peace and tranquillity are assured.

VILLAGE Herons Reach Golf Club

Set in a stunning parkland and lake estate, the course has a 'links' feel to it, being no more than 10 minutes from the famous coast of Blackpool.

Co-designed by BBC commentator Peter Allis, the fairways are well manicured, but expect to be punished if you land in the rough, and be wary of the winds from the sea that may cost you dearly.

If that's not enough of a challenge for you, there are no fewer than 12 water features to navigate including lakes which guard numerous greens. With a steady nerve and good approach shots, it's all there for the taking. Home to the PGA North Championship, Heron's Reach may be the course you are looking for.

POULTON LE FYLDE GOLF CLUB

Poulton le Fylde Golf Club was founded in 1975 when the local council wanted to provide the people of Wyre with a golfing facility. Originally operated by the council, now privately owned, Poulton le Fylde Golf Club has grown to become a well respected parkland course known for its challenging layout. The course is situated on the outskirts of the historic town of Poulton le Fylde, which is in Lancashire, 10 minutes from the seaside resort of Blackpool.
The course is suitable for golfers of all ages and abilities. The flat parkland layout is easy on the legs, yet the narrow fairways and water hazards make it a challenge.
